Faith Booster 64: 18th December 2009

Word for the week:
“In His light we see light…” [Psalm 36:9]

Thought for the week:
The eye of the Eye-Maker is beyond just precise sight – It is the Eye of concise insight

Even as the sun faithfully shines bright, high and beautiful
Our days are often a night
A gripping darkness that suffocates our hope for joy
You feel a loser, left behind,
You feel defeated, hated and rightly despised
You feel unwanted and rejected, unuseful and incapable
You feel foolish, you feel unfortunate
You regret and wish different – and the different you wish hides inaccessible
Indifferent to the difference you tearfully desire
That’s darkness
And the cumulonimbus grey and weighty feeling around your chest testifies to it. None of us is unfamiliar with darkness - each one of us can tell of it in a fingerprint language
For all of us have been to a dark place
To some it is a vivid distant or recent memory – one that makes you sigh and pray that it will never return
To others it is our present place – wondering whether your darkness will ever lift…and you are forgetting how happiness looked
The night overshadows your dreams, clouds my hopes and blinds the steps we have made.
That is life as we often feel it
It is life through our eyes.

But ours is not the only heart with which to feel
Ours are not the only eyes with which to see the world
There is the Eye that makes the eyes
The Eye that sees some see with their eyes
And others with their minds
The eye of the Eye-Maker is beyond just precise sight – It is the Eye of concise insight

His sees beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair
In our darkness He lends His sight that is insight
He lends us sight that is insight because He is the Light
And in His light we see light.

“In His light we see light…” [Psalm 36:9]
